Update: The transport minister has said the minimum age for riding an e-scooter should be 12. Previously the position was that children aged 8-12 could ride with a helmet.
France's new highway code rules for e-scooters. From September 2019:
- No riding on the pavement (fine: €135)
- 25 km/h maximum speed (fine: €1500)
- Helmets for under 12s (same as bicycles)
- One rider per scooter
- Lights, brakes, bell mandatory
