Carlo Polidori is the Secretary of the Italian Association of Road Safety Professionals (AIPSS); he worked for 17 years in an engineering consulting firm in Italy and is an expert evaluator for transport projects funded by the European Commission since 1999. He was also appointed on 2007 C Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the EU project “VILLE EMISSION ZERO” (INTERREG IIIB Medocc Programme), for the development of a sustainable transport model in the Mediterranean urban areas on behalf of the Transport Directorate of the Lazio Region (Italy). During the European research project “Ripcord-Iserest” he was the responsible for the “Safety Handbook for Secondary Roads”. Carlo promoted and participated at the Pilot4Safety project, funded by the DG Move and started on 1st of June 2010. Carlo has recently chaired the workshop “Road infrastructure safety management in Europe: stakeholder initiative to harmonise Directives 2004/54/EC (on road tunnels) and 2008/96/EC (on road infrastructures)” hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels on 26th February 2013.
